Details of the next Wayfarer Challenge has been released! Italy, France and Germany are the hosts of Niantic’s next Wayfarer Challenge! A recent poll allowed the voters to select between South Korea, Taiwan and Philippines or “Italy France Germany”. Italy, France and Germany were the winners of this poll, with 53%!
What is the Niantic Wayfarer Challenge?
Niantic Wayfarer allows high-level Pokemon GO or Ingress players to create new ‘Wayspots,’ also known as PokeStops and Portals, in their games. Then, these Wayspots are reviewed by high-level gamers, who then add them to the Niantic Lightship Map if the meet the required criteria. If they also fit within the rules for inclusion in Pokemon GO and Ingress they will be added to gameboard.
Niantic Wayfarer Challenges invite players to login and review the nominees of host countries in order to improve the gaming experience of these communities. These challenges last between one and two weeks, with a set goal for the number of Wayspots nominated that have been resolved. Trainers who participate in the challenges are rewarded with game items based on how many Wayspots nominated successfully, individually or collectively.
Niantic Wayfarer releases new challenges each few months. This October, Italy, France and Germany will be the main focus. The goal is to add as many Wayspots and create the best possible experience for the players of these countries.

Rewarding Wayspot Goals
Reward Eligibility Requirements
- Level 37+ in Pokémon GO to receive the Pokémon GO rewards
- Level 10+ in Ingress to receive the Ingress rewards
- You must also have passed the Wayfarer quiz.
- You must have reviewed at least 50 Wayspot nominations from the challenge countries (Italy, France, and Germany) during the challenge dates
Note: There will only be one set of rewards distributed. If you reach 90k, then the rewards for that level will be given.

Niantic wayfarer: How to Get Started
You can create a Wayfarer profile linked to either your Pokemon Go or Ingress account if you’re eligible, but you haven’t used it before.
After signing in, visit the Criteria Page and take the quick quiz. This will teach you the basics about Niantic Wayfarer. For example, how to review and vote on Wayspots.
